Students learn to manage their issues by learning to play and write their own music. Lessons focus mainly on keyboard improvisation and songwriting. No previous musical experience is necessary. These lessons are meant to be an adjunct to conventional therapy.

Teaching Philosophy: My feeling is that students with chronic emotional issues can learn to manage their issues by learning to play and write their own music. By focusing on keyboard improvisation and songwriting, students learn to express their emotions and develop their creativity with the goal of achieving a balance in their lives, writing and playing about their work, love, and recreational lives and all of the people they are close to. Gaining experience with spontaneity through learning to improvise helps students to become more effective and happy in general. The overall themes that I prefer to work with are peace, love, happiness, and the healing process.

Teaching Philosophy: When people think of drums and the drum set they think of rhythm, a beat, a groove. They get you up and moving! Regardless of the genre of music that you like, playing the drums is supposed to be fun for yourself and your audience. One problem that plagues many young drummers is the sheer physical aspect of drumming. If you are not careful, it is very easy to hurt the muscles and joints in your hands and feet. I know from personal experience that this can really take its toll on your body.

To that end, I have spent the last several years of my drumming career focusing on proper technique and relaxation. This has had a profound impact not only on my playing, but also my insight into how the human body works in an ergonomic fashion. I truly enjoy sharing with and teaching other drummers the techniques that I have learned. To the beginner picking up their first pair of sticks, or the advanced player looking for new insights, I will help you reach your drumming goals!
