Areas of Study Offered: Professional guitar instruction in the styles of progressive rock, neo-classical shred, jazz, fusion. Emphasis on improvisation, composition and developing monster style chops and unique individuality on guitar.
Additional Info: The styles I cover are essentially electric guitar: blues, rock, metal with jazz/fusion and neo-classical influences. I do concentrate heavily on proper technique and execution but I primarily focus on music theory and it’s application: scales, modes, chord theory, song structure and composition. You will learn to write, compose songs as well as solo and improvise over a variety of chord progressions in diverse musical styles. I place a heavy emphasis on speed picking development and legato shred style soloing.

This is why it is still valuable to have a private teacher in real life. Finding music lessons on the internet is great but it would be optimal to use those in addition to a real private music teacher. The reason a real private music teacher is worth the money is that they often will be able to correct small errors in technique that will hold you back long term, though they may seems like minor details short term.

Online music lessons will not be able to help you spot mistakes in your playing, nor will they be able to answer specific questions on the spot. They can still offer some good advice though, and keep your practicing advancing while you may not have a teacher.

The great thing about the internet is that you can now easily find private music teachers online at sites like this one, the music lessons directory. This is a great benefit to both music students and teachers. Music teachers can now operate independently of stores to offer lower music lesson prices and more flexible time slots. Music students now have access to sources of music lessons other than local stores which will keep the prices of the local stores in check. The internet is a great thing for all people involved with private music lessons.
